Introduction to Beauty

Disclaimer: I am not a licensed professional or doctor, and all of the content of the beauty category has been obtained from my personal experience.

I love throwing on a cute outfit, doing my makeup, and going out on the town (although since COVID pretty much shut everything down, “going out on the town” means my living room!). I might live in the country and love all things country, but there is still a little bit of a city girl inside me! I don’t wear makeup every day, except for a little mascara, so putting on my full face is a treat.

My Skin and Hair Care Routine

Since I don’t wear makeup every day and usually don’t have much extra time, my beauty routine is pretty simple. I do try to hit all of the significant issues for my skin and hair, though. I have combination skin that is fair in the winter, but it gets very tan in the summer, at least my face and arms do. The rest doesn’t get much sun! My hair is straight, and my scalp tends to be oily, but I get dandruff, especially in the winter. Because I have oily, dry skin, it is difficult for me to find products that don’t make me more oily or more dehydrated. I try to use products that are formulated specifically for combination skin. I find it is easier to find hair products that work; I have to switch them up more often, though, to keep them working for my hair and scalp.

Putting on my Face

When I put on makeup, I like to refer to the process as “putting on my face,” as I do find it a little funny that we use all of these products to enhance our looks, and sometimes, we even end up looking like an entirely different person. But it’s a lot of fun, and usually, the result looks pretty good!

I also try to keep my makeup routine quite basic because, again, I don’t have a lot of time and makeup is EXPENSIVE. I use a liquid foundation, concealer when I have breakouts, a powder foundation to set my makeup, eye shadow, and mascara. I occasionally use eyeliner, but to be honest, I’m not very good at drawing a good line, so I don’t use it very often. I will get more in-depth with my skin and hair care and makeup routine in a future post, so stay tuned!

Happy Journeys,

Shayne
