Skincare is so important, especially for those of us who work outside, in the dust, wind, sunshine. I’m sure you get the idea! As busy women, it is difficult to find the time to establish a solid skincare routine. I started small, just a cleanser, a dark spot corrector, and a couple of different moisturizers. If you want to read more about my skin type and an overview of my whole routine, that is all in the Introduction to Beauty blog post.
When I leave early in the mornings, I will just wash my face with water. And use Neutrogena’s Hydro-Boost Water Gel and Jergen’s Nourishing Honey Lotion on my face. I make sure to bring these products down to my neck, as well.
I’ll also use Hydro-Boost Hand Gel Cream by Neutrogena and Jergen’s lotion on my hands. This takes me only 10 minutes. It is quick and painless, and best of all, it makes me look more awake than I feel! It takes me a couple cups of coffee to get going in the mornings. If I have more time, I will cleanse my face using Neutrogena’s Hydro-Boost Cleansing Gel and Olay’s facial cleansing brush. This still only takes me 15-20 minutes.
At night, after I have showered, I use my Neutrogena cleanser and cleansing brush to wash my face. If I am wearing makeup or got really dusty, I will wash my face twice. A little side note about the cleansing brush, don’t stay in one spot too long. This brush is an exfoliator, and it is easy to damage your skin if you leave the brush in one area for too long. Run the brush over your face in a slow, circular motion, preferably in the direction the brush head is spinning. It is a nice, deep clean if you use it properly, though! After washing my face, I use a dark spot corrector, by ISDINCEUTICALS, gently patting it onto my face and neck. This pigment corrector is an exfoliant, so I only use it once a day. My skin can’t handle being exfoliated too much. I let the corrector dry for a few minutes before I finish up my routine (just until my face feels smooth and no longer tacky) to let it absorb into my skin. This helps it not be wiped away when applying moisturizers. Finally, I use Neutrogena’s Water Gel and Jergen’s lotion to finish up my night routine. My nightly routine can take up to 30 minutes, depending on how long it takes the pigment corrector to dry.
I try to keep my routine simple; otherwise, I’ll skip it the first day I’m too busy to do a long, complicated routine. And once I leave out something once, I’m less likely to start doing it again.
